Automation to sort cards in all lists on a board?

I'd like to have a board button that sorts cards in all lists by a custom field.

 

It seems that it's only possible to sort cards in a single list. I tried using the {*} wildcard, but that just matches a single list — not all lists.

 

I can do this by explicitly including every individual list, but it's a terrible solution because:

• It's brittle: If I ever change the lists on the board, the automation breaks.
• It doesn't work across boards: Since boards in general have different lists, each board needs a different automation, even though the intention of the automation is the same.

 

Is there a way to match all lists on a board so I can have a robust solution?

@Liam hey Liam! welcome to the community! I'm not sure if it would work, but you could try using regex, like i do in this video: https://youtu.be/39eWzgziDzE

It might not work, because its more of like matching _any_ and not _all_, so I don't think it would actually achieve what you're looking for, but that's how i use wildcards in automations!

Otherwise, I think what you've got is the solution for sorting all cards in a list by a custom field. I don't know of other power-ups or automation that would do that.
