Info on "Simple Expression Language" for custom formulas?

JPD documentation states:

Write Your Own

Write your own allows you to use a simple expression language to write their own formula.

There seems to be no further info on that "simple expression language" in the documentation.

• Which functions are available? (tried normalize(...) - yields "Could not parse")
• Which operators? (mathematical operators are obviously possible)

Any info on that?

And what's on the roadmap, relating to the custom expressions?
