Running Bamboo as a Windows Service

Question

Hi Team,

Bamboo runs fine from the Console and Command Prompt. Service appears to be installed correctly, but will not start or an error shows up when trying to run it. While trying to set Bamboo as ''Service", following error comes up.

I got below notes from "Bamboo Troubleshooting & Resolution" article.

1. Please navigate to your <bamboo-installation> directory, right click on *UninstallService.bat* and select "Run as Administrator" to uninstall the current service. Make sure it's uninstalled by refreshing the local services page.
2. Now, right click on the "InstallAsService.bat" and select "Run as Administrator" to install the service.

My doubt is if do follow above instructions , will that uninstall Bamboo instance too or only impacts on "service" only. Because our Bamboo us running on PROD environment, so I need to make sure it should not destroy or interrupt the users.

Hi @Devendar Gangapuram

the error message seems to be suggesting more information could be found from system event log - that means: using Event Viewer you could probably get more information. Have you had the chance to check if this holds true?

Hi Devender,

Uninstall service means It will uninstall bamboo application.

Make sure to run bamboo service as local user as well as check permission of the user for the bamboo install and home directory: https://confluence.atlassian.com/bamboo/running-bamboo-as-a-windows-service-as-the-local-user-416580754.html.
