Jimmy Seddon

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

I had troubles trying to come up with a topic for today. Halloween has past and I day not invoke the "White Flakes" earlier than they need to be.

So for this week, simply introduce yourself and something you would like to share with the group!

I'll start things off:

Hello my name is Jimmy! I will be participating in a 24 hour charity event this weekend.

I've love to hear form everyone else in the comments. Don't be shy.

Have a great rest of the week!

Robert Wen_Cprime_

24-hour charity event? Is it Second Life, @Jimmy Seddon ?

Robert Wen_Cprime_

Hello, my name is Robert; but feel free to call me Bob. When I'm not geeking out on Atlassian, I geek out by teaching SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) courses on the weekends!

Jimmy Seddon

@Robert Wen_Cprime_ I will be participating in Extra Life if that's what you were thinking of.

Jimmy Seddon

That's really neat. I will admit I'm not overly familiar with the SAFe framework. I have never worked at a company that has been large enough to use it. Maybe one of these days.

Theresa Corcoran

Hello, my name is Theresa, and I am currently rejoicing because while picking up leaves in the back yard, I have just discovered that my abused Christmas Cactus plant that I was sure was dead is absolutely loaded with buds! Oh yeah, and maybe I am procrastinating on my work "to do" list just ... a ... little...

Jimmy Seddon

That's awesome @Theresa Corcoran! I'm glad to hear your Cactus is very hearty!

jeff_melies_teladochealth_com

Hello, my name is Jeff, I'm really looking forward to the holidays this year but not the colder weather, we just winterized the toys .

Jimmy Seddon

I know exactly what you mean @jeff_melies_teladochealth_com! I have a four year old son now, so some of the festivities are enjoyable to see through his eyes!

Theresa Corcoran

Just wait, @Jimmy Seddon and @jeff_melies_teladochealth_com my "four year old" daughter is now 19, away at college, and just called to ask if SHE could take over all the arrangements and logistics for Christmas this year! Talk about enjoyable!!!

Fun Man Andy

Hello my name is Fun Man Andy and alongside supporting my good buddy Jimmy during Extra Life with my chat ramblings this weekend, tomorrow I will join a 3 day monster Virtual International Conference for ADHD - a subject that hits VERY close to home.

EXCITING!

ps: "White Flakes" in some parts of the world is slang for Cocaine.... aiiiiiii!!!!!!!!!! ❄⛷

Jimmy Seddon

That sounds really cool @Fun Man Andy

You'll have to let me know what you think of that conference!

Also, I really do appreciate all the support and entertaining commentary you provide!

Jimmy Seddon

@Theresa Corcoran I'm still getting used to the idea that he goes to school each day. I don't know if I'm ready for that!

Nikki Zavadska _Appfire_

Hi, I'm Nikki and I'm just setting up our newsletter. I usually find newsletters boring but one I actually enjoy is the one from IndieHackers so I'm thinking how to make ours a bit more fun. 🙇‍♀️

Jimmy Seddon

That sounds amazing @Nikki Zavadska _Appfire_

Can't wait to see it when it's done!

Theresa Corcoran

@Nikki Zavadska _Appfire_ As long as you resist the urge to include cute pets in Holiday sweaters, I think you will be fine!

Usi doubra

Hy,am Doubra, just looking for fun and motivation

Thorhalla Gudmundsdottir Beck

Hello all'yall. My name is Þórhalla but my friends call me Tex. I'm already missing Halloween but looking forwards to crafting up something new and costumy for a goth night at the end of November. Who needs Christmas? :þ

Jimmy Seddon

Nice to meet you @Usi doubra! You have come to the right place!

Jimmy Seddon

That sounds awesome @Thorhalla Gudmundsdottir Beck! I'd love to see some pictures when you are finished!

Celine Penaredondo

Hi everyone, My name is Celine. I'm an Atlassian Newbie and so far...I found Jira Interesting. Has anyone of you taken the Jira Certifications? I'm planning to get one.

Thorhalla Gudmundsdottir Beck

Certainly

unknown

Hi everyone! I'm Carrie, a graphic designer based in the UK. I work for a company that helps businesses to enter awards, and in my spare time I'm usually busy running around after my 16 month old 💙 Good to say hello to you all! Loving Trello so far, I'm using it to manage client renewals and just finding my feet with it.

Nikki Zavadska _Appfire_

Haha, thanks for the tip @Theresa Corcoran 😅

Stefan Salzl

Hi everyone,
my name is Stefan, living in Vienna, Austria. I´m passionate in "getting things working & done" and helping people. That´s mainly why I am here in the community to give my (current) knowledge to people struggling (mainly) with Jira and/or XRAY.

Besides that (and even mooooore important) ) am a passionate climber/boulderer and started a new kinda unusual, extraordinary passion.......wait for it.....

I started welding and got absolutly addicted. Currently spending lot of my free time in my garage (which I rented for exactly that reason) and just exercising welding. First projects/furniture planned

Jimmy Seddon

Welcome @Celine Penaredondo!

I currently hold multiple Jira Certifications. My best piece of advice for you would be to get some experience and exposure with Jira before looking at certifications.

There are a number of great courses (some of them free) on the Atlassian University to get you started.

Jimmy Seddon

@Stefan Salzl were glad to have you here sharing knowledge! There are tons of people looking for help each day.

Welding is one of those things I can appreciate but I think I'd be nervous to do it myself.

Celine Penaredondo

Thank you, Jimmy, yes I'm currently working with Jira and developed basic automation for some projects. I wanted to learn deeper and I'll start from the free courses.

Stefan Salzl

Hi @Jimmy Seddon ,
I could get some experience with JIRA, administrating site/users/permission as well as within projects/creating automation/workflows/issue types/....

I also had a look into atlassian university but honestly I´m overwhelmed with the amount of certificates and where to start.

Could you provide a possible/best path? where and how to start?

THX in advance.

Best
Stefan

Jimmy Seddon

Hi @[deleted]!

That's really cool. 16 months is fun! Time will fly by really fast.

unknown

Aw thanks Jimmy, you're so right! Working from home with him here is.. interesting heh heh

Stefan Salzl

@Jimmy Seddon

It´s my pleasure I know! I enjoy so much I´m even observing the community on a daily base if there is a question I could answer and provide a solution

hhaha.....felt the same....until I just did it =D

Thorhalla Gudmundsdottir Beck

Meanwhile, here's a picture from Halloween :þ

Michaela Staffova

Omg this Christmas Cactus story made me so happy! 🪴🌵

Michaela Staffova

Hello friends!

My name is Michaela but since I'm Czech and Czech people looooove to address each other with short versions of their names, everyone calls me Míša (pronounce: Meesha 😅).

I work as a Solutions Specialist at Integromat which is a no-code platform that lets you connect your favourite apps and automate all kinds of tasks.

Anyway, back to me 😆

So: My name is Michaela/Míša and lately I've been trying to get back to reading books on a regular basis. When I was a child/a teenager, I would read all the time but now - somehow - Netflix became my books 😅

Theresa Corcoran

@Michaela Staffova You should see it now! I have repotted it and it is starting to bloom!
