How to fix 'Plan branch cannot add repositories that are not defined in the parent plan.'

Question

Using Bamboo 8.0.0 I am getting an error when trying to publish my specs, the error is:

Plan repository: Plan branch cannot add repositories that are not defined in the parent plan.

com.atlassian.bamboo.specs.api.exceptions.PropertiesValidationException: Plan repository: Plan branch cannot add repositories that are not defined in the parent plan.

I know this is an old question, but it took me some time to figure it out so maybe this answer will be useful for others. I had the same issue just now and it was due to the branch of the main specs repo.

I have updated the repositories list on a feature branch and it was failing with this error. I have edited the linked repository and changed the default branch to match my feature branch and afterwards it was able to add the new repository.
