POC demo on Jira Data Center

Dear all,

We are actually running Jira in a Datacenter architecture and we would like to evaluate opsgenie integration for which we will need to build a POC demo for our stackholders.

I have read that for on Premise architecture, it is require to use a kind of connecteor between Jira and Opsgenie name Mari.

If your Jira datacenter is hosted under Azure, does that connector is required ?

Marid has been replaced by it's successor, Opsgenie Edge Connector (OEC). So you would use OEC instead of Marid. In our Jira doc, we have a section on integrating with Jira via OEC for on-premise instances, and include a package you can download to get OEC with the Jira-specific config file, and script that it will execute. 

Whether you need to use OEC or not all comes down to whether your Jira instance is accessible over the internet. If it is, then there is no need for OEC. 

 

If you have a firewall setup that prevents requests to the Jira instance over the internet, then OEC is the solution so that you don't have to open up firewall access to allow Opsgenie to send requests to your Jira instance. Instead, OEC sits inside your network, and will be "polling" Opsgenie for alerts, so it will be making outbound requests to "get" alerts from Opsgenie, instead of Opsgenie pushing alerts to your Jira instance.
