I tried sharing the link with one of my clients on their account but received an error message that said it could only be shared with one of my team members.

I would love the hear any thoughts, as I have tried to reach out to Trello with -0- success. Thanks!

You can easily obtain and share a link to a board, card, comment or action in Trello. If you are linking to a private item then the person you are sharing the link with must be a member of that board in order to open the link. Links to team visible items can be opened by members of your team but one will still have to be a member of the board to collaborate on the linked item. A link to a public item on a public board can be opened by anyone that has been given the link.

Thank you for your information. I understand sharing a template with a team member, but I was hoping to sell a template to my client who would have their own separate account. Is this possible? And I do not want my template on the public board.

This is just my opinion for the hack around this, as you don't want your template in the public domain and the only way to share the link for the template privately is by having your client in your team. so let's work with the visibilities:

The visibility of your template follows the same visibility of the board it was created from – so if your board was team-visible, it will stay that way when it’s converted to a template (although you can always change it after). Anyone who can view the template will also be able to create a board from it.

Private - only members explicitly invited to your template will be able to view and copy the template.

Team visible - anyone within your selected team can view templates from the Team Boards page (denoted with a “template” badge) and via the share link in the template header.

Company visible (Enterprise only) - anyone within your company can view templates from the Team Boards page (denoted with a “template” badge) and via the share link in the template header.

Public - anyone on the internet (all 4 billion of them!) can view this template via the share link in the template header, and through search engines like Google.

I know you don't want it in the public, you can share the public link directly to the client, once the client has got hold of the template and they are able to customize it, on your side you can make it private again and advise them to do the same on their side, but I think you shall have sold it to them so they can do whatever they want.

I know it is a lot but I hope it is worth a try.

Rather, you can just invite them and not sharing a link and let them view and copy while it is private.
