Viewing number of cards per list?

I saw on a blog post that there's a function for the number of cards in a given list to be displayed next to the list name, but it didn't have clear instructions. Is there also a way to condense or hide the cards in a list? I'm making a completed tasks list and I don't want a super long card line.

For your first question, press F on computer and the press *. I don't know the answer for your 2nd question. May be archive the cards?
