Unread notification expiry

Hello

I had some unread notifications before I went on holidays and I know that I got some new notifications during my holidays (because I get an email for them which I delete immediately). However I had only 1 unread notification when I came back from my holiday. And if I select Show all in the notification area, only a few notifications show up. 

Are notifications deleted in some ways after a while?

Sorry to hear about that @Sylvie , your notifications shouldn't be removed after a set period of time, especially if they are unread.
