Subversion integration JIRA 8

Our client is upgrading from JIRA 6.4 to 8. They have the (free) JIRA Subversion plugin installed and that plugin is no longer supported.

Which route should they take? As far as I can see there are two options:

1. Use the new Subversion ALM plugin ($);

2.Use FishEye instead ($$$).

Anyone have a recommendation?

Hey Jozef,

While I can't make a direct recommendation for you, there are some pieces that might be helpful to consider. Each option has some definite Pro's:

Subversion ALM

• Runs inside Jira as a plugin, so does not require setting up another application server
• Has some potentially useful JQL functions

One recent Marketplace reviewer was very impressed with it:

As a previous user of the free Atlassian Subversion plugin, I was initially disappointed to find it had been abandoned and that only a paid replacement was available. However, after having used the Subversion ALM plugin for over a year, I am pleased to say the value of the plugin definitely exceeds the cost. In addition to all the previous functionality, we have a very nice browser for our repo built into JIRA, easily viewing changes to files. The plugin functions very well - so far, I've found only one trivial issue that was fixed within 2 days of my reporting it. If you use subversion and wish to tie your code to the relevant issues, this plugin is a very solid option.

Fisheye

• Code view provides a more consistent look-and-feel with the Jira / Atlassian style
• Has a robust API and full support through Atlassian itself
• Integrates tightly with the existing Development features in Jira Software, along with other handy Jira functions

If your client would prefer to "not rock the boat" (keep things pretty similar to what they are now), Subversion ALM should be pretty familiar to the discontinued SVN plugin. However if end-to-end Atlassian support is a requirement for them or they are ready for some additional bells and whistles, Fisheye is a great option. Hopefully you are able to find one or two priorities from them that help inform your choice.
