Having Trouble Logging into Bitbucket from SourceTree with Google Authentication

The setup:

MacBook Pro mid-2009

OSX 10.11.6

SourceTree v. 2.5.3

git v2.20.1

Google Authentication with 2FA turned on

The issue:

I can't sign into my BitBucket/Atlassian account through SourceTree using Google. After going through

settings > accounts > add... > connect account > Log in with Google > (google email) > (google password) > (2FA code) > "please wait..." (with spinning pin wheel) then usually a blank screen, but once it came back with an error message.

Please advise and any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi @Joe Lee,

For the 3.0 release we changed the OAuth provider setup so it allows users to sign in via their preferred browser. Unfortunately doing this invalidated the ability for users on older releases to add accounts using the prior OAuth configuration within the app. The only alternative to upgrading is to use basic authentication instead. Our apologies for the hassle.

Basic Auth always says invalid password no matter what I use... even copying and pasting from Chrome saved passwords which is what's automatically used when I log in through the website.
