How do I get my Jira board to populate based on the most current due date first?

I am wanting to organize task on my Jira board by due date. Currently I will add a due date to a task but it doesn't move the task to the top of my Jira board based upon calendar dates. How do I do this?

Change your incoming board filter so it's sorted by due date e.g.

project = "Mobile Dev" ORDER BY duedate ASC

Can you give me step by step instructions to do that? I have added a filter before and it didn't work.

I caannot find the "configure task dev." This is what I am looking at.

besides:
you will not find "configure task dev".
I was in the configuration settings of my board and  the name of my board is "task dev"
