Using the Jira Cloud for Slack app, you can now @Jira in any Slack channel to create, update, and assign work items using natural language. Capture a bug, decision, or scope change from a thread, and hand it off to a teammate or coding agent to fix, keeping your Jira board in sync without leaving the conversation.
Before you get started, make sure you have:
Rovo enabled for your site
The Jira Cloud for Slack app installed and enabled by your site admin
Access to the Jira site configured for your Slack channel
Follow these steps on how to get started.
@Jira in any Slack channel. If the app hasn't been added yet, follow the prompt to invite it to your channel.
On first use, select your Jira site and desired default space.
Then, simply @Jira and type what you need in natural language to create or update work items, complete with fields and an editable card in the thread.
To change your settings at any time, type /jira agent in the channel to update your site, space, or add a custom instruction.
Create a work item from a thread: @Jira create a bug for the [XYZ] discussed above
Reprioritize and reassign without leaving Slack: @Jira update XXX-XXX to Critical and assign to [XYZ]
Hand off work directly to a teammate or coding agent: @Jira create a task for [XYZ] and assign it to the Jira Coding Agent (this creates a direct pipeline from conversation to shipped code, with no one opening Jira in between)
