Reminder: Upcoming changes to Data Center products

Hi Community!

Last September we announced that several Atlassian Data Center products will reach end of life (EOL) on March 28, 2029.* These changes will occur over various stages across a 3-year time horizon, to ensure there is enough time for our customers to plan and execute a full transition to cloud. You can find the full timeline of events here.

As we approach the first milestone in this transition, we want to remind you of what’s changing. This milestone does not impact existing customers’ ability to purchase Data Center licenses or expansions.

*Please note that Data Center end of life does not include Bitbucket Data Center. These licenses will continue to be supported through our new Bitbucket Hybrid License offering.

What is the impact of this milestone?

On March 30, 2026, at 23:59 PT:

  • New customers will no longer be able to purchase or request a quote for impacted Data Center products or associated Data Center Marketplace app licenses. Please note that this milestone does not impact existing customers' ability to purchase or request a quote for Data Center licenses and expansions.
    • Data Center quotes that are finalized before March 30, 2026 will remain valid until their quoted expiration date. If the new customer does not convert the quote before it expires, they will not be able to generate a new Data Center quote.
  • Customers and partners will no longer be able to self-generate Data Center product trials.
    • Customers will still be able to trial Data Center products through their account representative or Atlassian support. Trial licenses are only intended for evaluations of unowned Data Center products prior to purchase, and are not intended to be used in any production instance(s).
    • Customers and partners will still have the ability to self-generate Data Center Marketplace app trials.

What is the difference between "existing" and "new" customers?

Existing customers represent any organization who has ever paid for a subscription of Data Center on or before March 30, 2026. This includes new subsidiaries/domains that may not own paid Data Center seats, but their parent organization does/has.

In contrast, new customers are net new organizations who have never owned any paid Data Center seats before March 30, 2026.

This milestone marks the beginning of the 3-year countdown to Data Center end of life. We’ll continue to send reminders and updates as we approach each upcoming milestone. It is critical that you are aware of the following key dates:

  • March 30, 2028: Existing customers will no longer be able to purchase impacted Data Center products and associated Data Center Marketplace app licenses. Additionally, customers will not be able to purchase expansions to existing licenses.

  • March 28, 2029: Data Center end of life. All impacted Data Center product licenses and associated Marketplace app licenses will expire and become read-only.

We know that upgrading to cloud is a significant transition, and that some customers may not be able to move right away. That’s okay! There are steps you can take to learn more and prepare while you work toward a plan. For example, you can:

  • Evaluate your Data Center environment for optimal migration and cloud performance: Portfolio Insights offers a comprehensive view of your Atlassian portfolio so you can assess cloud readiness, and optimize the performance of your Jira, Confluence, and Jira Service Management Data Center instances.

  • Learn more about the migration process with FastShift: For customers migrating more than 1,000 seats, Atlassian has a new complimentary high touch program to get you up and running in cloud up to 3 times faster.

  • Start a cloud migration trial: Test drive Cloud at no cost for the remainder of your Data Center subscription with a free cloud trial

If you have any questions about the Data Center end of life timeline or planning your upgrade to Cloud, don’t hesitate to contact us. For more information on our transformation program, check out the Atlassian Ascend hub.
