We are using Crowd 5.3 with LDAP. Which attribute is used to connect the account. Specifically, if we are logging into Bitbucket using short names, which attribute in Crowd needs to be configured ?

Is this User name attribute which is currently configured as sAMAccountName?

Context - we are trying to address a NFR which states that a UN/Email needs to be used to address the accounts. Wanted to confirm if we are compliant in using sAMAccountName. If we changed this email address, will authentication transition from existing sAMAccountName to email seemlessly?

Please include link to documentation.

Hi @Amith Bhanudas

Yes the username attribute in Crowd is also the username in Bitbucket.

Whatever LDAP attribute you mapped to the username (sAMAccounntName in your case) will also be the username in Bitbucket.

You can change the mapping to use email.

When you update the username of a user in Crowd it will also pass that update to Bitbucket.
HOWEVER I don't think this applies to changing the attribute mapping. I strongly recommend that you test this thoroughly.
