📣 Beta: Introducing teams to Confluence permissions

Hello Confluence community,

We’re excited to announce that you can now manage space and content access in Confluence with teams! You’re invited to join our beta and be among the first to explore and provide feedback on this feature.

Sign up for the beta now

Now, you can manage and assign access to teams just like you do with users and groups, making it easier for you to control who can access spaces and content across Confluence.

Here’s what you can expect

Share content with teams

When sharing or granting access to content, you can now select teams, making it easy to share with the right collaborators.

Manage space access with teams

Just like with , you can now grant space access to teams to give all members of the team access to a space in a single action.

You can also use teams in your defaults for all new spaces.

Easily identify which teams are admin-managed

Since teams can be managed by admins, we’ve added labels to clearly communicate what type of team you’re sharing with or granting access to.

Teams that are managed by your admins will have a verified logo next to them, and teams that are not admin-managed won’t. Since groups can also be admin-managed, you’ll see the same logo next to groups, too!

How to join the beta

Sign up today for exclusive access to start using teams in your Confluence permissions system.

Note: In order to participate, you’ll need a Confluence app admin to sign up for this beta.

Beta details and eligibility

  • The beta is set to launch in November 2025.
  • Customers on Standard, Premium, and Enterprise editions of Confluence are welcome to participate.

  • In order to participate, you’ll need an app admin on your Confluence site to sign up for this beta.

  • We will limit the number of participants so that we can properly manage the feedback that comes in as part of it, and we will reach out to your team if you’ve been accepted into the program.

  • Throughout the beta, we will use a private Community group to communicate with all participants. We ask that you provide feedback on the feature and insights about your experience, including usability and performance.

Our goal is to deliver the best possible experience for managing access with teams in Confluence. Your feedback during this beta will be invaluable in helping us improve this experience for all users!

Great to see this is in the works 🙂

@Cadence Hsu if you have Confluence roles enabled (instead of the old permission experience), are you still eligible to sign up for this beta?

@Tomislav Tobijas Great question -- yes, the beta is compatible with Confluence roles!

I know I'm getting ahead of myself asking this question, but just curious, is this feature being developed for Jira as well?
