Hey everyone 👋
We recently published a blog post about where Compass is headed, and I wanted to break it down here for the community.
TL;DR: Compass is being phased out and its core capabilities (catalog and scorecards) will be delivered through the DX platform.
Why the change?
Compass was built to answer: What do I own, and where do I find it? That's still important, but we’ve found that the landscape has shifted. AI is now woven into every stage of the SDLC, and teams need to measure, understand, and improve how engineering orgs work with both humans and AI agents
DX builds on what Compass started, but adds:
Context for AI agents — your catalog becomes the context layer that lets agents assess software health and drive changes, accessible directly from an agent-friendly CLI
SQL-powered scorecards — continue to define standards across your organization with more flexibility in how they are measured across your software components
AI impact measurement — real data on how AI-assisted dev is affecting cycle time, quality, and developer experience
What happens to my Compass setup?
No immediate action is required, but we are encouraging all Compass customers to transition to DX for their catalog and scorecard needs.
Compass is no longer available to new customers as of May 13, 2026.
Access to Compass will end on December 31, 2027.
