When an agent isn't available, bamboo keeps waiting for it. My build plan contains a workspace cleaner script, which I need to run every day to ensure I have space on the machine. However, at times some agents are offline, and a build job keeps waiting and waiting for them.

You need to configure Build queue monitoring for that to work.
Make sure to enable "Force stop hanging builds and clean up sub-processes".
The "Force stop build" setting can also be adjusted on a per-plan basis.
