I suggest you become familiar with filters and dashboards.

Filters will allow you to specify exactly what it is you are searching for in your query
Dashboards will allow you to, among other uses, present results of your filters

Also, I suggest you make use of the third party tool called 'All In One Reports' (aka AIO reports). This is a very powerful addon to JIRA that you may be interested in.

With AIO reports, comes a nice additional feature that allows you to include reports within dashboards.
