Funny story; I have a young friend who works in the software industry. He's been telling me about Jira and how he has struggled mastering the environment. Anywho he was telling me all about sprints, scrums and all of the other funky (that's a bit nicer than jargony) words that Jira uses.
So I was ribbing him about those names and Agile and all of that but eventually I was able to draw on my experience as a consultant in the corporate world to help him come to terms with working in Jira. From his own account things are going well now.
The laugh is on me now because to my horror the organisation I work for now (a Disctrict Health Board) joined me up to Jira. When I told him the other day my young friend got a good laugh out of that.
And here I am, knee deep in jargon, trying to make sense of Jira. Thankfully my team have just barely started to use it and there is some. small, hope that I might get some sort of fluency before I have to wade in further.
I've seen that there is a lot of support material and I've also noticed that it is a full of the jaunty jargon as everything else is around here. Perhaps I'm just too old to appreciate it. That said, Jira seems to be well regarded and I have no doubt that, over time, I will come to grips with it.
