Friday fun: Happy Pi-day!

It’s still Thursday here in the US…. 3.14... Pi. π

Do you need more reasons to grab a pizza for dinner or a slice of pie for dessert today? I think not. (Even if it’s Friday where you’re at, we’ll allow it (I mean, really, 3.15 is just Pi+. So, pizza and desert for you guys. Now that's true "Friday Fun". Huzzah!))

In honor of this most sacred of days let’s hear about your love of pie (pizza or dessert). What’s the best pie you’ve ever had? What’s your favorite pie to bake? Anyone have a funny pie story? Maybe you've got a fun π story... Let’s hear it!

I enjoy making pizza at home. Favorite toppings are chicken and Italian sausage on pesto.

Favorite dessert pie is my dad's pecan pie. It's rediculicious.

Interesting π fact: My niece is a π baby.

I absolutely love Pizza - Any type any place. From Chicago / Chicago Area, Giordanos, Papa's, Rosati's, Lou Malnati's just to name a few.

I also has a friend in High School who memorized the first 100 digits of pie.

I'm actually having the best pizza in New York tonight (photo courtesy of Pinterest), which is Emmy Squared. It's Detroit-style, which is typically characterized by a rectangle shape with a super crispy crust. 👌🏼🍕❤️

I am a big fan of coconut cream pie and banana cream pie! Banana cream was my grandmother's favourite as well. Hmm now I am craving pie for breakfast.

I'm not a huge pie fan, but I do enjoy a slice of my mom's pumpkin pie and my grandmother's pecan pie during the holidays!

Pizza pie - oh, yeah! I could eat that most every day and never tire of it. I did essentially that when I worked at a pizza restaurant while in high school. :-)

And back to pi, while in college I memorized the first 150 or so digits, and I still recall the first 60 or so. Knowing the first 100 once earned me a free pizza pie. :-)

And, here I am decked out for the occasion yesterday. :-)

Favorite pies: custard (1), pumpkin (2), lemon meringue (3)
Pie I cooked for a Pi Day baking contest yesterday: Bacon Apple Jack pie. Smoked bacon salt and Jack Daniels Black Label in the crust, two kinds of apples and more whiskey in the filling, and a Dutch Apple topping with cooked bacon in it. The pie was a hit.
Favorite commercial Pizza pies: Thin crust, pepperoni, extra cheese, and mushrooms OR thin crust pineapple and Canadian bacon--both with a red sauce.
Pizza pies I make when left to my own devices: Pineapple, jalapeno, spinach, and Canadian bacon with pesto sauce OR Shrimp, spinach, jalapeno with a pesto sauce.
My favorite pie memory: writing a play for my high school Spanish class (group project), where we had a waiter, a customer, and a manager who got into a fight with whipped cream pies. Messy, but fun.
My other favorite pie memory was from when my Dad was serving time in a minimum security prison near Santa Barbara for tax evasion. He loved custard pie from Dupar's in Los Angeles, so we stopped and bought pies, loaded us all up into the motor home and drove to Lompoc to visit Dad and bring him some pie. He was happy to see us and we all ate custard pie together.
FACT: Pineapple DOES belong on Pizza.

I didn't know about PI day until I got to work and someone mentioned it. What a great way to bring fun to math and science for kids!

My favorite pies are 1) blueberry cream cheese 2) lemon meringue and 3) chocolate pudding pie. Wow, those are all over the taste bud spectrum, aren't they!

Pumpkin Pie is hands down the most fantastic pie in the world. And the trend of "Pumpkin pie flavored" everything in the fall is the best thing to ever happen to humanity!
