User doesn't have the "Complete sprint" but has "Create sprint" and "Manage sprint" permission

Could someone please let us know what could be the reason why a user still can't see the "Complete sprint" even though given the following:

  • user has "Manage sprint" permission on the Project on board filter
  • user is an admin of the filter
  • filter Viewers = All roles of the associated project

User can see "Create sprint" in Backlog but can't see the "Complete sprint" in Backlog and Active Sprint.

Filter Query:
Project = "XYZ project" AND Issuetype in (Story, Task)

Projects in board:
XYZ project

I've asked assistance from Atlassian Support and they identified the issue was due to the complex filter of the board which the sprint originates.
Solution is either have the user Manage sprint permission to all the Jira projects or update the complex filter and specify all the related projects.

Hi @Maria Mariella Bautista ,

Check if this solves your problem

To complete a parallel sprint in team-managed projects

  1. Go to your project’s board view or backlog.

  2. Select Complete sprint to open the modal.

  3. In the modal, select the relevant sprint, then select Complete.

If issue still exists, share the screenshots.

The Complete sprint button is not visible to the user even though given the following:

  • user has "Manage sprint" permission on the Project on board filter
  • user is an admin of the filter
  • user can see the Create sprint button

Hello @Maria Mariella Bautista ,

Please check the board configuration, ensure the board filter includes relevant issues, verify sprint-specific permissions, review the project's workflow to allow the "Complete sprint" transition, check global permissions, ensure issues in the active sprint are in the right state, consider Jira version updates, and inspect logs for error messages. Troubleshooting these aspects systematically should help identify and resolve the issue. If problems persist, seeking assistance from Atlassian support is advisable.
