Opsgenie Login Deprecation Announcement

Hi Opsgenie Community,

We want to inform you that, after careful consideration, we have deprecated the Opsgenie login feature in our platform, effective 11 March 2024. This decision was made as part of our ongoing efforts to focus on providing the best user experience and streamline our product offerings.

Now, you might be thinking, what is this Opsgenie login feature?
Let’s talk about this feature to give you an idea. In Opsgenie, under the Settings dashboard, you can find the Login & SSO sections where you will find the account login flow. It could be one of the below logins:

For example, if the user is using their own password via login, they are using Opsgenie Login. They should be able to see a switch to Atlassian Login. When the user clicks this button, they will switch to Atlassian managed login flow.

However, if they want to switch back to Opsgenie login, they can again navigate to the Login section and change the login flow to Opsgenie Login.

Please find the below screenshot to see the Login & SSO page under Opsgenie Settings:

Opsgenie Login Deprecation:

Therefore, this Opsgenie Login flow has been deprecated. Customers won’t be able to click on the Switch to Opsgenie Login link anymore, and they won’t be able to see the Login Settings option under the Login & SSO page.

  • What will happen if you click on Switch to Atlassian Login?

    • This action will end all the active user sessions. Once the switch is complete, all users will receive an email to update their passwords and direct them to the Atlassian login. If the customer is using single sign-on, then they need to set it up again on their Atlassian site.

Note: This is a permanent action - after switching, there’s no option to go back to the Opsgenie login.

How will I setup SSO in Opsgenie if I switch to Atlassian Login?
However, if you wish to enable SSO after switching to Atlassian login in your Opsgenie instance, we recommend setting up the SSO via Atlassian Guard(Access).

Atlassian Access is an enterprise-wide subscription for enhanced security and centralized administration that works across every Atlassian cloud product used at your organization.
Atlassian single sign-on is available once you subscribe to Atlassian Access:
Connect Identity Providers to your Organization

Atlassian Access is billed separately and is free with Opsgenie’s Standard and Enterprise plans. However, you may receive additional fees due to your subscription to other Atlassian products.

We understand that Opsgenie Login may have been a valuable feature to many of you, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We want to assure you that this decision was not taken lightly, and we are committed to assisting you during the transition period.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or need assistance with the transition process.

We appreciate your understanding and continued support as we strive to improve our product. Additionally, your insights are incredibly valuable in our journey to improve, so please don't hesitate to provide more detailed feedback directly in this article.
