Issue security & managing watchers

Tomas Slavkovsky February 3, 2023

Hi,

I was trying to create an automation which would add watchers based on the field "Users with access". However, the field also manages access to the given issue, which is set through issue security. However, when tested received an error "user does not have permission to view this issue. Firstly, I thought that I need to fetch the data. But then I realized that some users have access set through issue security already. So there are two problems:

1. Users which already have the access through the issue security

2. Users which are added through users with access field

What do you think?

Tomas

@Tomas Slavkovsky If the users have access to the issue they will be allowed to be added as watchers.  If they are not part of that field then it will fail.  It will also fail to add them as a watcher if you are adding them to both fields at the same time.   I think the issue here might be that your automation user does not have access to the issue do to issue security.
