Save The Water is hiring an Director for Atlassian Products (Volunteer)

Hi everyone,

I'm the hiring manager for this position. Save The Water is a nonprofit, charitable 501(c)3 organization located in Florida, USA. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in a highly organized, active organization, working alongside professionals in different fields.

As this is a volunteer position, we kindly ask for a commitment of a minimum of 10 hours per week for the duration of this project. We're all virtual and from all over the world using GSuite, Google meets, and Slack to communicate.

About the project: we are implementing Jira and Confluence for the organization and centralize the managing of projects, timesheets, resources, workflow processes, knowledge and training.

Associate Director: Strategy and Operations, Atlassian Products

SAVE THE WATER, INC.

STW(tm) will provide a "letter of recommendation" to interns, students & professionals who are able to showcase outstanding performance for school/university credit and for professional references. 

The Role

Reporting to the Director, we are looking for a passionate, results-oriented, and inventive Associate Director of Strategy and Operations, Atlassian Products to drive Atlassian products at Save the Water. The incumbent will develop the products’ strategy and deliver detailed, crisp business requirements that will define the team’s vision. You will own building product roadmaps, help define the product development schedule from design through to release, own the product life-cycle, design a governance model and systems and perform deep analytics on user-facing experiences. This role is inherently cross-functional as you will work closely with other groups in an agile environment launching new features and experiences. Other key responsibilities include monitoring the execution of the project, providing project progress to stakeholders, and pushing for appropriate levels of quality to maintain the overall integrity of the project.

The incumbent is responsible for leading and driving a strategic implementation of Atlassian products and their policies and processes at Save the Water. He/she will work closely with the Jira team and the Director to identify opportunities, resolve concerns and manage transitions of the implementation and adoption of Atlassian products.

 

What you will be responsible for…

  • Lead the architect, implementation and operational strategy of Atlassian products at Save the Water.
  • Ensure that Atlassian products are configured in line with STW(™)’s objectives and operations. 
  • Lead team communication strategy by facilitating regular team meetings and managing communications between external and internal stakeholders. 
  • Provide strong leadership to the Jira team by managing and supporting all job duties, targets and goals and ensure they are adequately prepared to fulfill their duties. 
  • Possess strong relationship management skills, as it relates to the Jira team and STW™.
  • Keep abreast of Atlassian product trends and propose recommendations to the Director of Education and President of STW.
  • Transform findings into relevant recommendations, and partner with cross functional teams to execute on the recommendations.
  • Support the Save the Water’s mission in educating the public about world water issues. 
  • Act as the primary Jira and Confluence administrator.
  • Attend regular meetings as necessary.  
  • Work collaboratively with the team members in the Water Education Materials team.
  • Increasing SEO of our website using keywords as developed by our Web Analysts.
  • Be willing to attend virtual meetings in EST timezone (GMT -4:00) and respond to emails within 24 hours.

  • Strong attention to detail in all aspects of work.
  • Strong ability to self-motivate, multi-task and prioritize effectively. Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and online environment.
  • Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills to elicit information and provide accurate information clearly and concisely.
  • Very comfortable working in a virtual team environment incorporating group problem-solving; shares information and responsibility. 
  • Committed to attending team meetings. Strong relationship-building skills, both internally and externally.
  • Outgoing, persistent and energetic. Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to handle requests and complaints in a professional, non-confrontational manner.
  • Creative problem solving skills, capacity for innovation. 
  • Enjoy taking initiative, adaptable, and able to work under pressure. 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science. Equivalencies of education and experience may also be considered.

Requirements

  • Expert knowledge and experience in Atlassian products.
  • Proven success in strategic planning and executing deliverables within scope and on time. 
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team.
  • Superior communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Good understanding of IT Service Management and infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of project and product management methodologies, tools and lifecycles.
  • Experience using Google product applications or GSuite.

Preferred

  • Agile experience.
  • Microsoft Azure.
  • Jira and Confluence Data Center on Server experience. 
  • Change management experience.
  • Non-profit organization experience.
