why every user on Jira get email when someone changes his epic on WBS-Gantt-Chart

Ajit February 15, 2023

Hi Everyone,

I am new to JIRA so is my other team members.  So we are using WBS Gantt chart which has many projects as EPIC's and each epic is assigned to project project manager.

Problem: When manager ABC is changing his/her Epic or task underneath it, all other managers are getting emails that their EPIC progress is changed to version XXX and changes are made by manager ABC.

Is there a way to stop it?

Thanks,

Ajit

Hi @Ajit and welcome to the community!

I'm not super familiar with WBS Gantt. However, I believe notifications are irrelevant to WBS Gantt.  You'll want to look at the notification scheme for the project(s) and see if they're too liberal.  Perhaps someone set it up to send to a group like Jira-Users which would include everyone.

Hi @Mark Segall Thank you for reply.

I had a look there but did not find anything relevant.

I just looked at the documentation for WBS Gantt and I don't see anything specific to the add-on which would be adding notifications.  It looks like it only provides a mechanism for visual alerts.

This tells me it has to be something in the notification scheme.  I can't see what type of environment you're dealing with (server/DC/Cloud), but are there any automations in place which may be adding users as watchers?

:-) I had to google to find out Server/Cloud. we are using the Server based and I dont think there is any automation done her as People are quite new to using Jira.

If there are no automations and they haven't been added individually or by way of group to the notification scheme, you may want to open a ticket with Atlassian support on this one.

Sure, I will do that then. Thank you so much @Mark Segall

Hello @Ajit ,

Alessandro from the Ricksoft support team here, welcome to the community and thanks for using WBS Gantt-Chart.

As @Mark Segall has mentioned [thanks for the help! :)], possibly, there is some notification scheme triggering emails whenever a change is made on your Jira issues.

WBS Gantt-Chart is not able to send notifications by itself (since Jira already does it, it would be rather redundant.

That said, you may want to check your Global Notification Schemes (Jira Admin Cog > Issues > Notification schemes) and also your Project Notifications (Project settings > Notifications) and check which triggers have been configured.

To learn more about Notifications, you can take a look at the following article: https://docs.atlassian.com/jira/jadm-docs-0821/Creating+a+notification+scheme

And of course, if ou have any additional questions, let us know. We will be glad to be of help!

Wish you a great day ahead.

Kind Regards,

Hi @Alessandro Portela Cristiano , Thank you for guiding here.

Sure, I will see the above mentioned options with Jira Admin. Hope to find a solution here, before raising ticket.
