Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Short answer: No

DC is here to stay.  DC clients are large (the minimum size is 500 users), and there are a lot of places that can never go to the Cloud.  I have more than 50 customers who will never move their DC data to cloud, and some of them are constrained by law - it would be downright illegal (in the UK) for 6 of them to go to Cloud.

Atlassian has a healthy income from, and a very large customer base for, DC, so it is not going to get phased out for a very long time.

This answer is, of course, based on the current state of our technologies.  There may come a time when running your own servers just stops making any sense.  But that is not going to happen for many many years (or if it does, it's likely that the step change will wipe out most software services, not just Atlassian)

Hi @Chunjen Wu ,

As Nic said, I also think DC and Cloud will coexist for a long time.

Judging from the server transition cycle, it took more than 3 years from announcement to official shutdown. Atlassian has given a roadmap for DC through 2025, so I assume DC will still be offering services until at least the end of 2028. I don't think you need to worry too early about what might happen in 5 years.

Finally, stay tuned for Atlassian announcements to help you stay abreast of the latest trends.

My personal opinion. Not going to happen for a very very long time, if ever.

There are too many companies who require full access over their systems including governments all over the world who have special rules in looking after data alongside many software companies who require special rules in who has access to their data or where that data must be kept such as on personal data centres.

I am not sure that I understand the question, but I can say that Atlassian will be supporting all the migration tools for moving from Server or DC to Cloud for a long time/

If you are talking about Unicom's privately deployed Confluence Data Center and Jira Cloud, this solution is feasible.

Create a secure pathway between Atlassian Cloud and your network, and use it to integrate your Atlassian products
