Hello,
our client is looking for a solution to automate the following process so much, that it takes only one click:
Xporter App (could be something else too) generates a PDF (using the distinct name pattern) and attaches it to the issue
Something (Script Runner?) determines the most recent pdf that has been attached
That most recent PDF is then sent out via email
The Issue the PDF is added to is likely to have multiple attachments, none of which should be sent.
The issue may even have two PDFs with the same name pattern (older versions created on other days)
My suggestion for the client was to use the "Jira Email This Issue" Attachment picker, but that would
a) require to have two transitions (1st created PDF, 2nd sends Mails)
b) requires too many clicks
How could that be achieved?
Cheers
Jens
Found 2 solutions:
1.
"E-Mail this issue" is capable of adding only the attachment(s) added in the last transition to an email
2. Xporter has an email function too, you can also use a placeholder containing an email-adresse in the "to" field of the post function.
@Jens Kisters __SeibertSolutions For the record, there is a third option which doesn't even require (although that is an option) creating PDF attachments from the issue! Using the Better PDF Automation app you can just "export and email" the issues, JQL and saved filter results, dashboards and other types of Jira information.
The nicety is that it can be done as part of a standard Jira automation rule, it isn't a proprietary automation approach. There is a new automation action "Send PDF" provided by the app, and it can be added to any automation rule:
(Discl. it is an app developed by our team.)
