I recently started a new job and have inherited the Jira profile of the person I replaced. I have updated all the details from that person to myself but can't seem to change the Username under Your Profile>Jira Profile>Username. I can change my name, email address, etc everywhere else but this does not seem to be editable so I'm stuck with the previous person's username.
How do I change this? Thanks.
Hi Gareth,
Even it you have admin permissions, you might still need to ask another admin (or you will have to create another temporary admin account) to make the change, since you can't change the username of an account you are logged in with.

Hi Davy,
If I go to /admin/users I get a list of all the active users. Next to my name it says 'Site Admin' so I assume that's full admin permissions? However, if I click on the name of another user there doesn't seem to be any name editing options, just a list of the groups they belong to. If I click on my own name it takes me to /admin/users/view?username=(the person I replaced).
Am I in the right place? Thanks.

Hi Gareth,
You are in the right place.
But I'm afraid that (user)name cannot be changed
That said, we are in the process to remove usernames from Atlassian Cloud (which would solve your problem)
Please have a look at the blog Say goodbye to usernames in Atlassian Cloud for details.

Hi @Gareth
If you have admin rights then you can do this.
Browse to Usermangemnet -> users (in Jira administrators sections) search for the user and try to edit the username using edit option.
Thanks,
Sravya
