Unable to see and edit the Remaining Estimate on Issues

When creating a new issue I can see the "Remaining Estimate" field and can manually set the field value. Once an issue is saved and we go to Edit it I can't find the field anywhere. The only opportunity we have to adjust this value is when logging time against an issue. This is very inconvenient for me and I assume there is a straight forward way to show this field on Issues so we can edit as required and use this to drive backlog reporting.

The original and remaining estimates are really part of the same (complex) field.

You don't just edit them, you need to use the work log functions to record or adjust time in them.
