Timesheets permissions: Team Leader able to see *'s team timesheets, in any project, and nothing mor

Hi everybody,

my company is using ClockWork for time tracking. We can already set "vertical" permissions, as in restricting the access to the timesheets of a certaing project, allowing only the project manager for example to see al the times logged.

What we'd need, but is sadly not provided by ClockWork at the time, is to set "horizontal" permissions, meaning that for example a team leader can see his own team timesheets, logged in any project, but no timesheet of anybody else outside his team.

Anybody would know how to workaround or improve Jira permissions options to make this happen? Thanks

Hi @Alex Larini @Marc - Devoteam

my name is Gracjan and I'm a Customer Success expert at HeroCoders, the team behind the Clockwork Automated Time Tracking & Timesheets Pro app.

I just wanted to confirm that for now, it is not possible to restrict access to timesheets of specific groups of people. We do have it in our backlog, and we are currently gathering interest on that.

I will post here an update whenever we get more details on this topic.

Cheers!

Gracjan

Hi @Alex Larini

I think this is a question for the developer of the app.

In Jira you could create a group where you can add all team leads and grant the the required permission for clock work in the Jira permission schemes.

Of course this will grant them access to all written time, I don't know if this is an issue in you company.

I don't see access level permissions that Tempo offers in their app where you are able to set roles within Tempo to have manger look at work from team members in any project.

So I would suggest to raise an issue at the developer, they might are working or looking at such options, or you can request this feature.

Hi Marc, thanks a lot for your answer.

I've raised the issue to them already but... by now at least ClockWork is not providing that feature. They already have a "Teams" ft. where you can create the teams with a leader, but it can be only used as filter in the reports. Useful, but it doesn't work also as permission schema atm.

I was hoping to find a workaround :) , maybe with a script or another add-on focused only on the permission side.

Hi @Alex Larini

If there is, I don't know about it the functionality of ClockWork should store this info in the DB or it needs it's own API for app like scriptrunner or just a script.

Not all apps on the marketplace provide integration with any other app, this is also something that is in to play.

So you could also look at another Time Tracking app that does have the function and move to this app.
