Is it possible to use text templates in Jira Core, for example to copy them from a selection (drop-down) into a text field?

Hi @DG - You could probably create a separate custom field with the drop down values and then copy the value of that field into a text field using an automation rule. But you are not going to be able to use a combination drop down and text field together in a single field.

You can have automation add a comment and include the value from the custom field, yes.
