Did you mean:

RFE: An option to channel notifications for *only* tickets created via slack.

Deleted user June 2, 2020

You can currently configure the plugin to notify a channel for all new tickets to a project, but I'd instead like it to notify for tickets created from slack specifically.

I.e, it'd be great if there was an interaction like:

```
user1: Hey can someone do XYZ for me?
me: /jira create ticket do XYZ for user1
Jira ticket ABC-XXXX created: do XYZ for user1
```

Hi Phil,

I'm assuming you're referring to the Jira Cloud for Slack app that comes bundled with Jira Cloud. Is that correct?

If so, I think we do provide what you're asking about currently. Here's an example of the message that was posted to a Slack channel after I created a Jira issue with the /jira create command in Slack:

image.pngThat particular Slack channel doesn't have a subscription to the project I created the issue in. That message from the app is also public (not ephemeral / "only visible to you") so anyone in the channel can see the message.

Does that fit what you're looking for?

Cheers,

That does seem to happen now! Is that new I don't believe that was happening a few weeks ago when we first started. Thanks!

Could you explain "RFE" and how you're creating issues from Slack?  (there's lots of ways to do it, an explanation of RFE might not be enough)

Deleted user June 2, 2020

"RFE" just means "request for enhacement" (as opposed to a bug or a question)

And I thought I explained how I was creating tickets from Slack in the question. As I said:

  /jira create ticket do XYZ for user1

Is there something more specific I can provide?

That's the problem with acronyms, they're mostly universally useless.  Most of my life has computers in it, and I did land on your intention as a "best guess" after discarding another eight possible meanings.

/jira create ticket do XYZ for user1

Is the other end of the explanation scale - completely clear on what you are doing and what you expect.

But Slack does not support that.  You need to tell us what plugin is handling that and how.

Heh it's funny you ask that. Atlassian's documentation for the Cloud JIRA For Slack plugin links directly here as the place to file bugs/suggestions on that exact plugin:

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-core-cloud/docs/use-jira-cloud-for-slack/

So it was unclear this was not the place for that. Perhaps that support page needs updating. But I think/hope that answers your question.

You're not in the wrong place, the community is a good place to ask this sort of thing.  We're a load of people who are in the same place you are - we use the software

(the exceptions I'd argue are the people who are not using it, but might want to, and the handful of Atlassians who are here and also are involved in writing it)

Where I was stuck is on the app - Jira, off-the-shelf, does not talk to Slack, or anything else.  It is usually easy, but when that goes wrong, it gets hard to get to the bottom of.  We need to start with the app that is connecting Jira to Slack.

Deleted user June 2, 2020

Yeah I'm just saying it was unclear  that this wasn't a subgroup for that plugin specifically as opposed to there just being a whole group for Jira-Core. Now that I go up a level and look at the other boards, it's clear to me.

Anyway - we have a support contract so I might/could/should make these feature requests through that as well.

Well worth asking the author of the app.

But we can't do much without still not knowing which app it might be.
