I need to add an existing Issue Type called "Task" to a new workflow. I don't want to lost the current status/resolution of the exist task ticket within the project. When the statuses change it break the developers existing boards/sprints and I'm trying to migrate existing Task issue type to new workflow without affecting the existing current Task tickets which we have over 3000 tickets.
Can anyone provide insight on task at hand?
Thanks
Sharon
Hello @Sharon Curtis
Do I understand that you want a new workflow to apply only to newly created issues of a certain type, while leaving already existing issues of that same type unchanged?
If so, that is not possible.
An issue type within a given project can have only one workflow applied to it.
If I have misunderstood, please provide a more detailed example of how you want existing issues of that type vs. new issue of that type to be handled.
Correction... I have an existing project with 9 different issue type and each issue type has its own workflow. We consolidating those 9 issue into two new workflow.
So I have an added an new workflow to the existing project. I want to add the the existing Issue Type called Task to this new workflow. In the existing project the Issue Type "Task" has 3000 tickets. I want move the task type to new workflow, but I not want to change the status/resolution of those existing tickets. Is that possible?

That is possible only if the status/resolution in the existing tickets exists in the new workflow.
Issues can be set to only the statuses/resolutions available in the workflow applied to their issue type. If you change the workflow and remove statuses/resolutions, you will be required to select new statuses/resolutions for the tickets when you apply the workflow to that issue type.

The new workflow statuses/resolutions have to mirror what is currently assigned to the existing task tickets?

Is that a question?
The new workflow has to have the same values. If it does not, then when you apply the workflow you will be presented with screens to map the current values in the issues to available values in the new workflow.
