Jira Project ticket - Keep for audit/compliance purpose

HP October 23, 2023

Hi everyone,

My Jira instance is planned to be retired (decomission). I have no budget to look for jira cloud solution.

I am looking for way to archiving the ticket for audit purpose (Would like to keep the tickets for up to 5 years +).

Is anyone has the similar condition and could you share how you archive this archiving purpose? Thank in advanced.

Regards

Hi @HP,

Considering your budget argument, I would assume your current instance is a Jira Server instance. If so, the license for the product is perpetual and that means the product remains in a working state even if you don't purchase a maintenance renewal (which is no longer possible anyway). So, technically, as long as you keep the infrastructure that the product is installed on running, your software keeps working and available as well.

As an alternative, if archiving your data is your goal, that almost certainly implies that you won't need a large user base to access the data. You could consider moving the data into the cloud anyway, but restrict access to a very limited number of users. That would keep costs low, while ensuring the environment is also kept up to date technically (with security patches etc).

Hope this helps!
