Jira Plan - Can't add User Picker (single user) to Roadmap Filter?

Dear Jira Experts,

So I read this document that Plan supports User Picker (single user) custom field (see below first screenshot). However, when I try to set it as a filter column in Roadmap, it says "Filtering for this custom field type is not supported" (see below second screenshot).

In this case, how do I add a custom field that has a user information besides Assignee? How come Assignee can be added to filter but not a custom field with user name?

Is there another way of adding a user information? For my ticket set up, I need to have a custom field called Approver that it can search for a top-management user because the person is in charge of approving the project tasks/issues.

Thanks!

Kevin

Hello @Kevin Lu

This document lists the custom field types that are supported for Plan filtering.

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/filter-issues-on-your-advanced-roadmaps-timeline/

I can't tell you why you can filter on Assignee but can add a User Picker custom field for filtering. Perhaps there was some technical issue that made that harder for Atlassian to develop.

There is a change request to which you can add your vote:

https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWCLOUD-21861

To work around that limitation you would need to copy the Approver information to another type of custom field that can be used in the plan filtering.
