Jira Cloud app in Teams reinstalls when I paste in a Jira link

I installed the Jira Cloud app in Teams, and logged in to my Jira account. Tried it out. Then I right-clicked the icon in the left and uninstalled it.

Now, every time I paste a link to a Jira issue into a Teams thread, the Jira Cloud app for Teams reinstalls itself—what?! And also, of course, every time I paste a link to a Jira issue, it seems this app adds a big issue preview. I don't want this.

I can't seem to uninstall the app in Teams and keep it uninstalled. I already have "Optional connected experiences" disabled, but it still inserts these web link previews. I can't find a way to log out of my Atlassian account, in Teams. How do I stop it?!

I finally found you can go into the "Issues" tab of the app, in Teams, and there is a Log Out button in the top-right. Even after logging out it tries to put in a URL preview, but it's an empty one with a button prompting you to log in. Like this. 🤦

So I just discovered this. If you have the app "Pinned" to your left side bar, then it will be automatically reinstalled when you try to uninstall it.

Make sure the app is not "pinned" to the bar before uninstalling

I have this issue, and unfortunately, whether the app is pinned or not did not seem to matter. I still have the same issue.

Our Office 365 admin fixed this for me! So relieved, as chatting with Jira support did not have any solution. Our admin just blocked the Jira Cloud app from the admin side of Teams, and I haven't had this issue since. Maybe a similar solution will work for you.

First, uninstall the Jira Cloud app from within Teams (it's also at office.com/apps to uninstall from there, too) and avoid pasting any Jira links into Teams for now. Then the Office 365 admin needs to go to Office 365 admin -> Teams Admin Center -> Teams Apps -> search for Jira Cloud. Once they find the app, they should change permissions to not be available for users to install. This is a global setting in our company now, so no one else can repeat my mistake of installing it just to try it out.
