We were using a "Message Custom Field (for edit)" . It is a global field and we are using that in lots of our project to show a message to users when they are creating tickets.
It was working fine till May 10th, then suddenly it stopped working and that field doesn't show up on our create issue anymore. but when the ticket is created, it will show up on view issue.
Looks like now "Message Custom Field (for edit)" works like "Message Custom Field (for view)" and reverse.
I tried to create "Message Custom Field (for view)" this time and it showed-up on our create issue screen, but default value is empty, no matter what we add as default value.
Anyone has same issue?
Hello @Golnoush Taghizadeh
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
I tried to create "Message Custom Field (for view)" this time and it showed-up on our create issue screen, but default value is empty, no matter what we add as default value.
Based on the description for the field, this is correct functionality. It says the default value will be rendered on the 'View' screen. It doesn't say anything about rendering it on the Create or Edit screens.
Like you I see the field on the Create screen but it is empty.
Likewise the "Message Custom field (for edit)" says it will be rendered on the View screen. That field does not appear on the Create screen at all for me, only on the View screen.
If it worked differently before I would guess that was unintended functionality, and I would guess there was a recent update to make work more closely with the originally intended functionality. For confirmation you could open a support case directly with Atlassian Support to ask about the changes.
Thanks for your respond!
Yes, "Message Custom field (for edit)" does not appear on the Create screen for me as well, only on the View screen.
But it was working fine till 2 days ago. we were using that and It was showing up when we were creating/ editing the issue.
Now if we use "Message Custom field (for view)", it appear on the create/edit screen but empty, although it is not correct functionality. this field should only show up on view issue not create/edit issue screen. So I guess Jira team has updated functionality recently.
I found a bug ticket for similar issue, created about 2 hours ago, so watching that for response
