I have tests in Jira and I would like to import some new cases and update old ones with importer. What do I need and how to link old test in jira to correct line in excel to import with updated description example.

Example:

Testcase summary: Test 1

Description: Test case to verify text

Key: XXXXXX-1000

New data:

Testcase summary: Test 1.1

Description: Test case to verify new text

Key: XXXXXX-1000

Can the importer do this and if it can how do I link the key to old case?

I could import always new tests, but that would destroy the traceability of executions in cycles.

I can definitively confirm that this is not possible.  An import will only add new records.  You can however use the API to update existing test cases.

There is a dedicated Zephyr Scale community here where you can get help from other users of the product, and here is where you can contact SmartBear Support

Hi @Mikko Lindfors

Welcome to the community.

Which Zephyr app are you using, Scale or Squad?

Zephyr Scale documentation on how to import can be found here: import-test-cases

Zephyr Squad documentation on how to import can be found here: import-tests

I'm using Zyphyr Squad

That documentation was little bit helpful, but it does not say anything about updating existing test. Like I have more info to description, or new label to add. Or if I just would like to update my whole test library with out importing duplicate tests, update old, create new.

Then I suggest you reach out to the vendor "Smartbear" and ask their support of this is possible.

I think it should if you are able to specify a key column in the import and set the existing jira issue keys.

That is how the Jira import works on updating existing issues, but I can't guarantee this for Zephyr. Their support should be able to answer this.
