I created a new project and board when our team moved from a development phase to a project maintenance phase. I would like to continue to track velocity with one chart as the team is essentially the same group. Is there a way to do this?
Hi @Kirby Wanner - If I'm understanding you correctly, the answer is yes.
Reports in Jira Software (including the Velocity chart) are tied to the board, rather than the project.
So you should be able to create a JQL filter that includes both projects, and then create a board based on that filter. And then when you open that board, the Velocity chart you generate should give you all the data you want.
Hope that helps! Happy to break this down into specific steps if needed.
Thanks heaps Kevin - worked perfectly. This is not the first time I have forgotten the underlying and foundational role the filters play in all the many aspects of Jira.

@Kevin Bui can you please explain exactly how this is done. After creating the JQL for the multiple projects, how do I pull the velocity report into the dashboard.
What exactly do you mean by "And then when you open that board, the Velocity chart you generate should give you all the data you want"? Can you please explain further. Thank you!

On your board, go to Reports > Velocity Chart. The data you see there will be based on your board and its filter.

I have a development team that works on multiple jira projects, and runs an active sprint for each project which gives them a separate velocity for each project. Wouldn't it make sense to just run a single active sprint for all projects on the board and get a single velocity?
Or better yet, define a single jira project for the team and use Components to differentiate the work for reporting purposes and also get a single velocity for the team?
Thanks
