I know that in Jira Software there are ways to use APPs to help highlight cards, making it easier to manage, etc.
But do we have anything like it on JWM?
Thanks!

Jira does not track "card has been read" - it's too complex a question. Is a card read because it is viewed in the issue view? Appears on a board that someone has visited? Appears in a search? Appears in a gadget on a dashboard? Is seen in a report?
There are a couple of apps that bodge some tracking in, but generally, the answer is a simple "no" because it's not really that useful.
I work with more than one team that rarely views any of their cards directly, they work entirely off searches and queue lists,
first off, I don't have a solution for your exact problem - I'm just sharing some thought that perhaps might be useful.
For the first problem of identifying cards that are unread:
Jira has a special field named Last viewed that is updated whenever a user opens an issue, per user (meaning that you and me will see different last viewed dates). I just tried it again and it appears to only update when you actually visit the issue page, i.e., browse/<issue-key> - opening it in an issue dialog does not seem to be enough.
The alternative would probably be to introduce a custom field and update the custom field whenever you consider an issue as read, whatever this means for you. The problem here is that fields are always shared for all users, so you and me would always have the same value in the field.
For the second problem of highlighting cards: I'm not sure if the feature exists in JWM, but in Jira Software, you should be able to color/highlight cards based on a JQL statement. Both the last viewed field and any custom field would be useable in JQL statements, so this may be a way forward.
Hope this helps,
Best,
Hannes
