I am trying to get the event details under the burnout chart, such that I can get to know which issues has been completed for that particular sprint so I can replicate the velocity chart. If there are any other ways to replicate velocity chart your help would be greatly valuable.

Hello @nidimura

Additionally, if you're ok with using third-party add-ons, you can try Time in Status for Jira Cloud and present workflow progress in the Chart view:

  • Pie,
  • Bar,
  • Graph.

I guess, Bar chart suits your requests. So you can try this one.

This add-on is developed by my SaaSJet team. Please, let me know if you have any questions.

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

The velocity charts are built from the data on the sprint (start/end date/time, estimation statistic, and name), the data on the board (what status are in the last column), and the data on the issues that are in the sprint.

I don't know what you mean by "get", but assuming you mean you want to extract the data to build your own version of the chart externally, then use the REST API to ask for the sprint details, and then again to get the issues for "sprint = xyz" - their data will include their estimate, status and when the status changed.

Yes, I want to replicate the velocity chart by getting the required details through API.
Could you elaborate the required details to replicate the velocity chart and which exact fields from the issue data I would require in order to replicate the chart.

I've listed the data you need in the first paragraph of the answer.

Have a look at https://developer.atlassian.com/cloud/jira/platform/rest/v3/intro/ for the core Jira stuff (reading the issue data) and getting started.  When you've got that, you'll want a look at https://developer.atlassian.com/cloud/jira/software/rest/intro/ for the sprint and board info.
