Is it possible to use the Components field in Product Discovery? I'm not showing it as a standard field, and I'm not seeing an option in the system field management to add Components as a displayed option on the screens used by Product Discovery. The only option I'm seeing is to add a custom field called 'Components', but would prefer to use the standard Components as that is what is used across all of our other projects.
Our use-case is that we track the features that an Idea or a ticket covers by a Component, so being able to add the correct component would help us better understand where we should resource certain features in our product discovery pipeline.
+1 this feature would be helpful especially if fully integrated with Compass Components
Hello,
If the standard 'Components' field is not available in your Product Discovery system, you may have to use the custom field option named 'Components'. You can align this custom field with the standard ones used in your other projects by maintaining consistent naming and values. Although not ideal, this approach should still allow you to track and resource features effectively in your product discovery pipeline. It might also be worthwhile to consult your system's support or documentation for any hidden options or best practices.

Hi @Pender Fort -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
No, it is not possible.
Jira Product Discovery (JPD) is a product and is a type of team-managed project. Team-managed projects do not yet support Components. Please look here to vote for / watch progress on implementing that feature: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWCLOUD-17601
Per a July 2023 comment from Atlassian in that suggestion, they do not plan to work on this during the next year.
And an FYI: Components are defined at a project level, and you are describing using them across all of your other projects. To do that, you would need to set up the same values in each project, potentially leading to synchronization errors. Please keep this in mind for using this approach.
Kind regards,
Bill
