Every time I update the issues configuration, it won't let me add epic name or link to the issue set-up. Please help.
Epic Link does not apply to TMP. Epic Link is replaced by "parent" if you are using in JQL.
Thank you this tip was very helpful!!!

Is there a way to easily query the parent epic for the dashboard apps? The default for the apps seems to be company-managed ticket fields vs. team-managed ticket fields & ticket parent is not an option to show project data.

@Mara Finkelstein - This appears to have been answered. Let us know if not.

Neither Epic Link nor Epic Name are used in Team Managed project. Those are used only in Company Managed projects.
To add an issue to an Epic in Team Managed projects through the UI you have to first save the issue, and then you can click on the "Add epic" link in the breadcrumbs for the new issue.
Team Managed projects don't support adding an issue to an Epic by directly editing the field that stores the parent Epic's issue key within the child issue. That field, by the way, is the Parent field for Team Managed Projects.

It's really, truly such a TERRIBLE freakin' design. I have wanted to put my head through my computer monitor MANY TIMES using Team Projects. Why would there ever have been an assumption that people might not want to link issues to Epics in a Team Project the same way they do in a Company Project?

It is worse, you can't even group tickets by epics in a Team Managed project, so you end up with utterly cluttered board. Who thought that Team managed projects is the same as chaotic managed project.

Actually, yes, you can group issues by Epics in a Team Managed project.
On the board select the Group By option.
