How to add an existing project to a personal board?

Akhil Jacob November 8, 2023

I've created a personal board so I can see all the tasks across all projects I am involved in on one board. But now as I get added onto other projects, or new projects are created, I can't seem to add these new projects to my board. I've edited the filter query to include the new projects, but it still doesn't show on my board. When I create a new board and use the filter, then the new board shows all the projects I want. But surely there's a better way than making a new board every time?

This drove me nuts as well. The giveaway was the following message from Create Issue:

"Changes saved, but Issue not visible For an issue to be visible, it must match your project and filters, and have a status that’s assigned to the board."

Basically, there are two steps from here:

Go to Board > [three dots] > Configure Board

#1 General > Board filter > Edit filter query (add the other projects you want on your personal board)

Also, from Board > [three dots] > Configure Board

#2 Columns > Map statuses to columns

Look for "Unmapped statuses Issues with these statuses won't be visible.".

Drag the unmapped statuses to the same columns, or as you want them mapped if different. Click Back to board (top right).

The above worked for me and I can now see all projects and issues in backlog/drag to sprint, etc.

Hi @Akhil Jacob , welcome to the community.

How have you defined your personal board? If you want to defined your board to be "only those issues assigned to you" then I would recommend using the following filter to define your board.

assignee = currentuser()

you could also use your username instead of currentuser().

can you give this a try and see if it picks up all projects. The only time this would not be the case would be if you did not have browse permissions in a project.

I would prefer to see all tasks within the project but I see there's an option to only see tasks assigned to me. Right now I am looking at the tasked that are unassigned, assigned to me and assigned to other members of the team across the 3 projects I added when I created the board. But I can't see the tasks assigned to me from the new project in my board.
