How do I add an issue type to the standard issue list after the the issue type has been created?

Brian Masteller March 6, 2024

My organization uses the following issue hierarchy:

Initiative>Project>Epic>Story/Task/Bug

The Project issue type was set up but not included in the standard list so it doesn't show in the TYPE filter dropdown on the Issues screen (See below)

How do I change an issue type to be a standard issue type?

Hi @Brian Masteller

Go the the Project Settings on the Project and update the Issue Type Scheme this Project uses or, alternatively, create a new Issue Type Scheme with the Issue Types you want to be included and associate it with this Project.

Hi Kristján,

I don't see anywhere to change an issue type to standard in the Modify Issue Type Scheme field. It just lists the different types. 'Project' is already in the issue type scheme as an issue type. I'm trying to change the 'Project issue type' type to standard. For some reason it's not in the standard or sub-task options.

You can't change the issue type. You will have to delete that one and create a new one with the right level.

Thanks. I figured that might be case.

Hi @Brian Masteller ,

=> Kindly check whether you have created the "Project" Issue type as a Standard Issue type or Sub-task Issue type.

=> My assumption is you have created "Project" Issue type under Sub-task Issue type so that only it is not visible in your board.

Thanks, Asmath. Unfortunately another admin created this one. Looks like we'll just have to recreate it making sure the standard issue type is selected.
