I would like to migrate the projects, setting and media files to new cloud Jira instance from the existing. What I can see there are two files to migrate, activeobjects.xml and entities.xml, but not sure how to avoid migrating the users. Please assist.

Hello @NMSC User

Welcome to the Atlassian Community! 😊

I believe you are looking at how to migrate to Jira Cloud without migrating the users together at the same time with the projects, settings, and media files.

There is one way to achieve that using the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant.

On the Use the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant to migrate document shows at 3.b. Choose your migration options how you can choose what you will migrate.

You can migrate everything together or break it up into different stages. You can choose:

  • all or none of your Advanced Roadmaps plans

  • projects, users, and groups

  • users and groups only (without any project data)

  • customers

  • all or none of your apps

Before choosing what to migrate, make sure you check out what is and isn't migrated with the migration assistant.

I hope it can help you find a solution.

In case you need further assistance do not hesitate to contact us again.

Best regards,
