I am looking for a Jira prioritization plugin, but can't find one that has a hierarchical view (showing the stories under each epic). I love the UI of Foxly for ratings, but it does not offer the hierarchical view.

For the hierarchical view, I'm thinking of Structure or Plans, where it shows all epics and the stories under them in a simple, collapsible view.

Thank you for your help!

HI @Ryan McNamara ,

There are lots of plug-ins that allow for this. (Plug-ins meaning apps that work within Jira).

You can also use apps that connects to Jira data (hierarchal parent/child relationships) and then allow you to visualize them in a nested spreadsheet, Gantt chart, or Timeline chart. Visor is one such app.

You can make edits to your Jira data in Visor and push them back out to Jira. Or make visualizations that you share with other team members. I hope that helps!

You can find Visor in the Marketplace here: here: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1226209/visor-flexible-spreadsheet-for-jira-roadmapping-bulk-edits?hosting=cloud&tab=overview

Hi @Ryan McNamara

I think you'd like the app that my team and I are working on, JXL for Jira.

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a number of advanced features, including support for (configurable) issue hierarchies, issue grouping by any issue field(s), sum-ups, conditional formatting, or ranking.

With these, plus some calculated fields (either based on Jira Automation, or one of the many scripted-field apps that we support, like for example JWMC or JWT), you can build a view like e.g. this in just a couple of clicks:

This is using the RICE technique, but it works the same with virtually any other approach.

Any questions just let me know,

Best,

Hannes

Hi @Ryan McNamara , since you're on Jira Premium plan, perhaps consider using Advanced Roadmaps (Plans) as you mentioned?

Depending on your requirements, many apps support the hierarchical view of tasks, with custom levels, which is probably the main differentiation between Advanced Roadmaps and third-party apps.

This article might be helpful if you want to explore Advanced Roadmaps: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Advanced-planning-articles/Plans-an-advanced-planning-feature-in-Jira-Premium/ba-p/2523405

You also want to consider the use cases, i.e. I believe Foxly is more for issue prioritization and apps like Structure or Gantt charts can accommodate hierarchy ranking for portfolio management.

Disclaimer: I work with a vendor that develops Gantt charts app mentioned above
