Draft comments are not saved

Iulian Onofrei November 7, 2023

On GitLab, if you type a comment (and even task description), and you refresh the page, the typed text gets preserved.

On Jira, in the 2 weeks that I used it, I already lost 2 comments (I don't know how, maybe I clicked outside the area or something), and I had to remember and re-type them.

@Iulian Onofrei if you type a comment in Jira it is not saved until you post it.  If you close the browser window or go to a different page the comment would be lost.

I know. That's the entire idea of my post.

Saving draft tickets somewhere seems like an extremely useful addition to Jira... I have lost a few tickets due to tab closing for one reason or another. Wondering if this is coming anytime soon @Brant Schroeder ?

@Sara Tuson I have not seen anything like that on the Atlassian roadmap.  There is an app that provides that functionality https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1232947/easy-draft-for-jira-capture-your-ideas-as-issue-drafts?hosting=cloud&tab=overview

@Iulian Onofrei there is nothing on the roadmap for draft comments.  There used to be an app called autosave for server but it did not get enough traction and is no longer supported.  I would suggest submitting a feature request here: https://jira.atlassian.com/secure/Dashboard.jspa?selectPageId=10440
