Copy logged time from issue to linked issue

Simon Huprich December 14, 2022

Hi,

I got the following situation:

The Dev - Team has to clone an issue to a specific development project.
To accomplish this, they use a manually triggered automation rule.
(clone, comment, link issues).

When they work and log on the cloned issue, it would be necessary that the logged time got copied to the original issue.

So, how do I configure the automation rule that every time when the cloned issue is updated (or work is being logged), this value gets copied to the original issue. What configuration should I use in "Additional fields" (see image).

Thank you very much!
Greetings
Simon

Hello @Simon Huprich

You can't use the Edit action to log work on an issue. You need to use the "Log Work" action.

I recommend that for this rule you instead use the Trigger for "Work Logged" and then use the Action for "Log Work". That will give you the ability to get the detail information about the specific work log entry being made on the copy of the issue and then use those details to log work against the original issue.

Hi Trudy,

Thank you for your answer.
So, I tried a little bit, and finally I came up with this solution.

Hello @Trudy Claspill ,

Is it possible to sum up the logged issues? I have a requirement that I need to sum up the logged issues from all the linked issues.

EG: main issue - A

 LINKED ISSUES : B AND C

SUM A = A+B+C

Thanks,

Naga
